Is Halle Berry Heading North?

Thanks to Candy Canuck, we were linked over to a recent and brief article in the Montreal Gazette which reports Oscar winning actress Halle Berry and her Canadian-born male model baby daddy Gabriel Aubry have recently purchased property in St. Hippolyte, Quebec. According to the wee article, Miss Berry's French Canadian hideaway home cost a million smackers (Canadian, we presume) and sits on 63 acres overlooking Molson Lake.

Naturally we took to the internets to see if we could sort out some of the details and, curiously, the only Molson Lake we could locate is in the province of Manitoba, which is nowhere near sleepy St. Hippolyte which sits in the northern reaches of the province of Quebec.

Now children, we freely confess to not knowing shit from shinola about rural Canadian geography, but can someone who does please help us out here? Are St. Hippolyte and Molson Lake actually anywhere near each other?

Whatever the Canadian case, as far as we know, when in Tinseltown Miss Berry, her new baby and her good looking baby daddy all bed down in the N. Doheny Drive compound she bought from former child actor turned racecar driver Frankie Muniz in July of 2005.

Actress Halle Berry is now the owner of a magnificent $1.6 million property near Lake Molson in Quebec’s Laurentians region. The Oscar winner has been making frequent trips to Quebec since she began seeing Canadian model Gabriel Aubry, who is also the father of her child.

The 2,500 sq. ft modern architectural property, built in 1998, is a three bedroom house sitting on a 91,000 sq. ft lot. It is specifically located in the municipality of Saint-Hippolyte, near the Aubry family.

I found this article, which says the property overlooks a private lake.

Looks like there are a lot of lakes in that area.

Actually, St. Hippolyte is nowhere close to the Northern reaches of Quebec, it's less than an hour away from Montreal, which is a kick a** city, and only about an hour away from the border of New York. There's quite a bit of lakes up there, so they're generally not mapped on google maps.

Pretty interesting location. Cute carriage looking house. I figured she was buying something in Toronto with all the 5-star hotels being built (Shangri-La, Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons, Trump Tower, Festival Lightbox), but I'm sure many celebrities already own property in TO. Quebec City is beautiful and Montreal does rock, even though she's no where near those locations from what I saw on the map of this hoose.

What a super smart decision. Eaxctly what I would do if I had a couple of million to drop on real estate. I bet they're going to be really happy, which, obviously means lots of business time and babies. Sigh.

From Montreal, get on HWY 15 north, then exit at Saint-Hippolyte exit, first light turn left and about 20km from there you will be in Saint-Hippolyte, at the stop sign you turn left on 305th avenue, about 5 min from there you turn left again on 308th avenue. At the end there will be a gate, you wont be able to go further, but her house is about 2km in the woods,, by privete lake Molson.

On google maps search for :
Saint-Hippolyte, QC, Canada

Lake Molson is privately owned by the Molson beer heirs, which is probably why it isn't listed on maps or very easy to find via searches. It is a fairly small lake, and it is not open to the public. It is definitely in Quebec. Very beautiful and remote location, I'm sure it will only be used as a vacation house.

I have a home in St-Hippolyte overlooking Lac Achigan. A popular Lake with upscale residents.

Halle's place is up the hill on a private acreage with it's own private lake called Molson Lake.

The town is small and she's already been to a couple of little restaurants in the area.

The lake is an hour North of Montreal and is the closest navigable lake, (in the Laurentians),to Montreal.

We welcome the family to the area and respect her privacy.. :}
